Luftwaffe nit (Ln-Nachrichten Abteilung)- in Oslo, Norway -

Beitrag von Peter45 » 17.03.2012 13:40

Good afternoon gentlemen,

Can anyone help with the early history/photos (1941-45)of the LW-Camp at Luttvann (Lutvann)in the outskirts of Oslo (Norwegen).

From 1945-76 this camp was the base of the Royal Norwegian Air Force School(FSRS/LSRS/LBSR)for all kinds of electronic personnel (technical spcialists/NCOs/officers etc.).

I received my initial training as an air force Avionic Technician/fighters (NCO) here in 1962-63.

We heard that the camp was established as a recreational camp for pilots/air personnel - but that there also was a training school for LW- technical (electronic) personnel here - but no one really knows for sure!

Have a nice day!

Best regards

Peter

PS. I can read/understand German.

Hello Leif,

Many thanks for your answer, interest and the link to "Kystfort".

I found yesterday some "general" historic information on the web. site of the City of Oslo - but I am not sure how well documented this info is.

There it says that (LW) Lutvann Camp was completed in 1943 and served as: a Command centre for Flak artillery, a communications centre (hub) and a school for intelligence personnel.

In addition, due to its location with nice secluded nature surrondings and rich wildlife, the camp was a popular holliday and hunting retreat for high ranking (German) officers and officials.

If this info is correct, there may possibly exist some documentation and photos from the war period?

For the latter purpose, a substantial number of small houses/log timber cabins were built - and these still exist today.

The camp is still millitary area - and now centre of the millitary intelligence services and some logistics and home guard units (staffs) and with a number of new buildings - but much of the old camp is intact.

Also an interesting "historic web.site" for the former RNoAF technical Radar and Communications school, LSRS/LBSR (1945-76) has been established by personnel who received their traning there: http://www.lutvatnskolene.com/ (in Norwegian only).

Have a nice day!

Best regards

Peter
