Hi, Dan and SES,

the pic showing the inscription 02. Mai 1943

reads
Mit Hptm Materna (Matarna or Materne) über Berta.

That Hauptmann does not neccessarily need to be a Luftnachrichtenoffizier. Not all the GE signals Corps Officers got flying training, especially after the outbreak of the war. Pre-war officers were also trained as pilots.

So it is very likely, that he might have been a night-fighter pilot, who normally was led by the unit in question. So also look for night fighter pilots!

Thanks your help :thanx:

Interesting comment about the unit, i know 2 aerials pics are take on one Do 17, certainly not by nachtjägers, perhaps other airmens from one other unity from Lw during travel from place to place ...

I not obtain all the pics and nothing more about the original album ...

Best Regards, dan

There was a Hauptmann Otto Materne at 4./NJG 4
It is possible that the pilot was Hauptmann Otto Materne because of his Unit 4./NJG 4 they had Dornier Do-217N-1
Night Fighters.
Also they II./NJG 4 was stationed at St.Dizier (with temporarilly Detachements to Dijon and Taveaux)
