so I don't wonder about the massive concrete slab on top of the building as roof.

It would be verry interesting to have a look inside of this building. But unfortunately in Pocking it seems to be unpossible.

Bild 5 : oft fälschlicher Weise als Hochbunker bezeichnet, war dies das zentrale Heizhaus für den gesamten Fliegerhorst - steht noch heute - ausgeräumte Ruine

translation: Pic 5: often falsely reffered as Hochbunker, this was the central heatingstation for the whole Fliegerhorst - still existing today - reamed ruin.

So the funnels were used for pouring wood and coal into the Bunker...in my opinion.

might be possible. But how should all the other buildings been heated? A heater/oven in every single building?
When i look at your photos the concrete does not seem to be very massive.
When has the Fliegerhorst been abandoned and when has it been demolished?

The Luftnachrichtenschule was not in Fliegerhost Pocking,but in Lager Waldstadt,directly next to Pocking. Post war this Lager was still used but the Fliegerhost itself became a Truppenübungsplatz in 1956. So i think the heatingstation already existed in war. I can't imagine that they would build a complete new heating for the whole Lager.

Hi,

that building was indeed the central heating plant for the technical area of Fliegerhorst Pocking, especially the 7 hangars and the workshops, and also for a part of the wooden barracks, especially of the buildings with the lecture rooms.

Same type of that heating plant could be found at Werneuchen, Gardelegen, Finow, Fürstenfeldbruck, Neubiberg and Straubing.

Many of the quarters (wooden huts, in German called Baracken )were heated individually by single ovens (chimneys are visible on aerial pictures).
