Wassermann M IV foundation discovery at TIRSTEIN, Poland

Beitrag von Alkali » 01.12.2010 21:55

Hello,

December has started, snow has covered land and remains of radars, even
those big ones... X-mas are coming, so it's time for X-mas presents.
Here is mine - for all you Ln-Nerds - out of the darkness I am bringing
to the daylight another piece of Wassermann-Puzzle game!

This one is the fifth Wassermann M IV found within the area of today
Poland, and the last which remained unknown so far. It belonged to FuMG
Stellung 1.Ordnung TIRSTEIN.

According to my research the radar was destroyed by Germans by the end
of January 1945, shortly before Soviet Army reached the area of
Tirschtiegel (currently: Trzciel).

What's interesting, this particular Ln-Stellung was mentioned in Soviet
book entitled "We - the war engineers" released in 1977. The Russians
called this station "Radar Center No.10". I don't have any idea where
such name could have come from.

To summarize, we can now say that all five "Polish" Wassermann M IV
radars, belonging to:
KEMPERSTEIN,
LEOPARD,
TATZELWURM,
TIRSTEIN,
WALFISCH,
were raised, brought into action and utilized until final destruction by
their crews.

Kind regards,
Czarek

Hello SES,

After closer examination of your map of Wassermann Stellungen I noticed
that two sites in the Mediterranean are missing. Both stations used M II
variant, in one case central socle is very well visible on Google Maps.

1. Stellung LEUCHTKÄFER, Cap Leucate
42 54 53.77 N
03 03 27.60 E

2. Stellung RÜSSELKÄFER, Agay
43 24 57.61 N
06 51 22.77 E

I attach a few photos below.

Best regards,
Czarek

Hi Alkali,
Thanks for the heads up. It must be the same site as I have as SWINEGEL here:
http://www.gyges.dk/Norge%20Flum%20Stellung%2011.pdf
What is your source?
And the charts have been up-dated:

A really COOL place, Czarek. The remains of the antenna visible from the satellite are simply breathtaking. Can you imagine something like this in our country of "iron hunters"?

Hello Michael,

My source is:
http://www.deutschesatlantikwallarchiv. ... en/rn_.htm
and forum www.kystfort.com.

It is possible that SWINEGEL and STEINBOCK is the same radar company ? However, the 'mine' foundations are in Domen, between Svartnes and Kiberg. About 30 kilometers north-east of Skallelv. See map.
The Skallelv area have not found anything suspicious.

I once published a statement in which lacked the full name. Maybe STE… it was STEINBOCK ??

Best regards,
Czarek
