Moin,
Auftraggeber in allen Fällen: Transportflotte Speer.
The Motor Transportstandarte Speer was formed in 1937 around a cadre from the Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps (NSKK) school at Döberitz to assist Geberalbauinspektor Albert Speer in the rebuilding of Berlin.
In May 1938 Fitz Todt was given the task to complete the West Wall (aka Siegfried Line) which had been begun by the Heer almost two years earlier. For this task the Organisation Todt (OT) was formed and the NSKK supplied transport for the construction, these men were formed into the NSKK Transportstandarte Todt Sep 1939, expanded into the NSKK Transportbrigade Todt 1940.
Following the invasion of the USSR Motor Transportstandarte Speer was expanded into NSKK Transportbrigade Speer and was attached to the Luftwaffe where it was used in the construction of airfields.
Following the death of Todt in a plane crash 8 Feb 1942 Speer was given became leader of the OT as well as Minister for Armaments and Munitions. When NSKK-Korpsführer Adolf Hühnlein died and was suceeded by Erwin Kraus it was agreed that NSKK Transportbrigade Speer and NSKK Transportbrigade would merge into the NSKK Transportgruppe Todt with the expetion of the non-germanic volunteers which would serve in a new formation known as Legion Speer (which soon had recruitment offices all over Europe), both to be commanded by NSKK-Gruppenführer Wilhelm Nagel. NSKK Transportgruppe Todt primarily worked with building projects and Legion Speer primarily with military transports.
NSKK Transportgruppe Todt was redesignated NSKK Transportgruppe Speer Oct 1942.
NSKK Transportgruppe Speer was reorganised again in 1944 when it merged with Legion Speer and was made into an organsiation independent of the NSKK named Transportkorps Speer (TKS). The main reasons for this reorganisation was the confusion in between the various auxiliary transport organisations and pressure from Martin Bormann to remove all non-germanics from the ranks of the party-organisation NSKK.
